The Birds 'n Bees! We've named this litter after signs of spring... "The Birds 'n Bees"! We've nicknamed each of them after the name of a bird or a bee and will ask their new families to include the name of a bird or a bee in their AKC registered names.

Six Week Puppy Update
We're BIG Dogs Now ~ We have our own food bowls!
The puppy pinwheel was getting crowded so the puppies have graduated to individual food bowls. Using individual bowls also gives us better control over how much each puppy eats. We have a few piggies in the crowd who always get more than their fair share!
The videos and photos below are from their first individual food bowl experience which is usually disastrous. But these puppies did really well ... until the bowls were emptied. It was all downhill from there as bowl hopping began and puppies went amuck! |

We're BIG dogs now... We can do stairs!
Those stairs looked pretty scary to the puppies at first!
Eventually, their curiosity got the best of them and they mustered up the courage to give it a try.
Stairs for young Swissy pups should be very limited. It's okay for them to go up and down a flight of stairs maybe once or twice a day, but more than that puts too much stress on their rear legs and hips when going up the stairs and too much stress on their shoulders when going down the stairs. Although they look very sturdy, Swissy pups are really quite delicate during their rapid growth period.
Splash-Down Adventure!
Puppies had a splash-down adventure in their wading pool. At first, they thought it was a giant water bowl!
Getting photos of the puppies in the water was challenging. They were leaping out of the water faster than we could plop them in! But everybody got wet and had their furry little coats freshened.
Swissies are excellent swimmers but most of them have to be taught to like the water by repeatedly forcing them to take the plunge. The younger they are when introduced to swimming, the better. Even in the shallow wading pool, the puppies start to doggie paddle as soon as their front paws hit the water. Too cute! |
The Pitball Adventure... all good things must end
The puppies have had a great time jumping through their pool of balls. and we make sure everyone gets turns going down the slide.

Unfortunately for puppies, all good things must end. Their pool of balls will soon be going outside of their play area so they can only have supervised ball play because....
Who Let The Dogs Out!?
Nothing could be cuter than a pack of puppies running through the grass! Free running exercise is essential to puppies for their muscular and skeletal development, particularly for giant breed puppies. You just can't exercise a puppy on a leash the same way a puppy exercises just running around being a puppy.
