The Birds 'n Bees! We've named this litter after signs of spring... "The Birds 'n Bees"! We've nicknamed each of them after the name of a bird or a bee and will ask their new families to include the name of a bird or a bee in their AKC registered names.

Four Week Puppy Update
Puppy Visitors Welcome!
Puppies will be happy to play with visitors at an outdoor play date. Puppy play dates will be outdoors with one family of visitors at a time so visits must be scheduled in advance. Puppies are available for visitors almost any time.
All visitors are asked to take their temperature before leaving home to help insure no signs of illness and to bring hand sanitizer to use before and after handling puppies. Social distancing will be observed between visiting families and ourselves. Play dates will have to be cancelled in the event of rain. Please email me to arrange your play date: ktmarkley@comcast.net |
Puppies were four weeks old on May 13th. They're all weighing in at right around 5 pounds but will start gaining very quickly now since they've started eating "Puppy Mush".
We're BIG Dogs Now... We Eat FOOD!
Puppies had their first taste of "Puppy Mush", which is puppy kibble pureed with water to a porridge consistency.
And so, their lifelong addiction to food begins!
And so, their lifelong addiction to food begins!
The puppies took to eating very quickly. They started out so nice and organized in a pretty puppy pinwheel. Everything seemed to be under control.
BUT... things quickly went awry; puppies climbing all over each other, puppies in the food bowl, mush covered puppies.

After puppies finish their mush, they go to mama for dessert. But it's getting awfully crowded at the milk buffet!
We're BIG Dogs Now... We're learning where to potty!
Puppies can easily climb in and out of the whelping box now so they've moved from our master bedroom to the family room, which has been transformed into puppyville.
Puppyville has a small play and sleep area, and a potty area which is a crate tray filled with kitty litter. Puppies are learning to go to the kitty litter to go potty and are getting it right some of the time. After they are consistently using the potty area, their play area will gradually expand and they'll soon take over the entire room. |
We're BIG Dogs Now.... We have TEETH!

The dreaded sharp little puppy teeth have arrived and the puppies are starting to use them during play. The puppies aren't going wild yet, but during the next week, they'll begin rough and raucous play and we'll hear lots of puppy squeals. The puppies' biting one another is essential to the puppy learning bite inhibition toward other animals. When puppies are playing and one puppy bites another one too hard, the bitten puppy squeals and moves away so the play ends. Puppies start to learn that biting ends fun things for puppies so they begin to soften their bite.
SwissKisses! Fortunately, puppies don't hold grudges and quickly make up after a fight.
Puppy Visitors!
The puppies had their first outdoor adventure in an exercise pen where they were happy to get lots of petting from visitors. Thank you to everyone who came out for a puppy play date to help us safely socialize the puppies.
