The Birds 'n Bees! We've named this litter after signs of spring... "The Birds 'n Bees"! We've nicknamed each of them after the name of a bird or a bee and will ask their new families to include the name of a bird or a bee in their AKC registered names.

Five Week Puppy Update
Puppy Visitors Welcome!
Puppies will be happy to play with visitors at an outdoor play date. Puppy play dates will be outdoors with one family of visitors at a time so visits must be scheduled in advance. Puppies are available for visitors almost any time.
All visitors are asked to take their temperature before leaving home to help insure no signs of illness and to bring hand sanitizer to use before and after handling puppies. Social distancing will be observed between visiting families and ourselves. Play dates will have to be cancelled in the event of rain. Please email me to arrange your play date: ktmarkley@comcast.net |
Puppies were five weeks old on May 20th. They weigh between 6 and 8 pounds now and are all healthy and active little puppies. The outdoor puppy play dates have been great for the puppies to safely socialize with people in spite of the coronavirus. The puppies love people and enjoy being held and cuddled. They would be perfect if it weren't for those nasty little puppy teeth. Ouch!
The puppy play area has been expanded again; Puppies have now taken over the entire room! |
The Adventure Box
The puppy play area has expanded and they now have an Adventure Box for their entertainment. We frequently change the items that are hanging on the box so the puppies always have something new to explore.

The Pool of Balls Adventure!
A pool of balls was added to the puppy play area. Puppies were a little wary of the pool of balls at first but soon they were leaping in and out of the pool to wade through the balls (and chew on them!).
We'll try to capture some video of puppies romping in the pool for the 6 week update. |
Rainy Day Adventure! (aka... Why is water falling on my head!?)
Puppies went outside for a rainy day adventure and were not happy to learn that the world isn't always dry!
Before long they got used to wet paws and water falling on their head and went back to puppy play mode.
Dog-Dog Adventure!
Rainey decided it was time to share her puppies with Grandma Friday and Aunt Molly.
Grandma Friday checks out her grandpuppies. Friday is Rainey's mother.
Puppy Love
It takes a good mama to raise a good puppy and Rainey is doing an exceptional job. Many times mamas are ready to kick their puppies to the curb when they get to be five or six weeks old, but Rainey loves to be with her pups and play with them. And all the time she's with them, she's teaching. It's a very good thing for puppies!
|
Oh No... It's a CRATE!
Puppies are placed in crates for about 30 minutes three times a day while their play area is being cleaned.
There was a lot of squealing the first time they realized they were confined. Rainey heard them crying and came running to see who was killing her puppies! Turn up your volume and click on photo to see video --->
|
The puppies quickly conquered their fear of the crate. Crate doors are left open between cleanings and puppies wonder in on their own to take a nap. We'll gradually increase their crate time over the next 3 weeks so when the puppies go to their new homes and are crated for potty training, they'll be ready!
Puppy Visitors!
Puppies are becoming little social butterflies and are happy to run to people who come to visit them. They didn't have many visitors during the week but have a busy schedule of visitors over Memorial Day weekend.
